Afterwards we cycled to the waterfront path around Lake Michigan. On the way we caught a glimpse of the Milwaukee Art Museum that I had heard so much about. If we had been there at noon, we would have seen the "butterfly wings" open. At five, the wings close. I thought the openings were sails of a ship and checked for more information on the web. Yes, Santiago Calatrava did create this steel and concrete form as reminiscent of a ship and contrasts the existing ensemble in both geometry and materials.

July 20 - Biking into Milwaukee
Afterwards we cycled to the waterfront path around Lake Michigan. On the way we caught a glimpse of the Milwaukee Art Museum that I had heard so much about.
