August 2 - To Brockport, NY

This morning we left Canada early with a 70-mile ride ahead of us.  Leaving Niagara Falls, I spotted this trike with training wheels on a bike carrier normally used for road bikes. I guess the parents are placing a high priority on cycling for their child!

After cycling over the Rainbow Bridge to New York, we were on a path paralleling Niagara Falls. The water was soaring at full force. To our amazement, a rainbow appeared over the Falls.

By mid morning after mile 20, we were ready for our traditional bakery refueling stop. I just loved this sign, Sometimes you just need a Cookie.  The molasses cookie with hot chocolate was my favorite.

Threatening rain filled the afternoon hours and we were caught in a few downpours. Entering New York we noticed that the roads were not as sparkling clean and cared for as in Canada. A few miles before lunch in Middleport, Margaret had two flats and immediately after lunch, another flat. By the time the day was over, flat tires totaled 10 for the group. This was an all time record!
